The compliance officer is responsible for making sure the business follows the internal company policies for the betterment of its financial and organizational activities. He/she will oversee company communications, inspect the company’s facilities to be sure working conditions are in line with the corporate standards, oversee Human Resources functionality and monitor the financial position and stability of the company. The compliance officer will audit and supervise the company’s internal policies in order to mitigate the possibility of inadvertently breaking the company’s set policies and standards.
It is best that the compliance officers has a strong working knowledge of food and beverage guidelines and standards. Monitoring accounting and inventory guidelines as they relate to financial reporting and documentation also is important and requires excellent analytical, project management, communication and organizational skills. Candidates should have a minimum of three to five years of experience in regulatory compliance - a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field is required.
The responsibilities of the position will include, but not be limited to, the following items:
An experienced compliance manager will ensure our company adheres to in-house policies and proper GAAP guidelines. They will be responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters.
The compliance manager must become well-versed with internal guidelines and knowledgeable of corporate governance best practices. He/she must be a professional of high ethical standards and work diligently to complete their duties keeping in mind the objectives of the business. He/she must be comfortable saying “no” when necessary and be result-oriented.
