Director of Accounts Payable

Manage the Accounts Payable department and all aspects of the accounts payable and vendor payments process for a multi-billion publicly traded real estate company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process twice a week check runs, and on-demand checks, as needed. 

Manage personnel of 8 to 10 A/P staff, including assistant managers.

Verify funding for all accounts.

Maintain vendors records, input vendor information into A/P systems.

Set up new vendors, ensuring that appropriate backup is present.

Handle vendor calls.

Resolve all vendor issues in a timely manner.

Train new employees on appropriate A/P functions.

Ensure that invoices are being processed for the appropriate dates and check runs and that all deadlines are met.

Resolve any issues with duplicate invoices. Ensure all company control processes are followed consistently, required as a public company.

Assist in providing documentation for audit requests.

Approve employee time cards as needed. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties listed above in a satisfactory manner. 

Job Requirements

Yardi, IBS, MRI and other real estate accounting system experience needed.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school accepted with extended experience.

8-10 year of prior Accounts Payable Management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Real Estate experience preferred.

Computer literate in spreadsheet and word processing applications.

Knowledge of Accounting principles and the ability to reconcile past due balances required.
