You will play a critical role in delivering accurate, insightful analysis to drive decision-making throughout the organization. In order to succeed in this role, you must be comfortable working with partner teams, conducting both planned and ad hoc analyses, preparing reports, and communicating insights to a variety of audiences. In order to excel in this role you must be driven, with an entrepreneurial spirit, resourceful, innovative, forward thinking and committed. You will be responsible for working with key members of the business to develop and evaluate requirements, ensure operational readiness, and verify new features bound for production meet the Firm’s standards and needs. You will work closely with technical teams such as Database Engineering, Product Delivery, Infrastructure, Information Security and Operations to define and refine requirements. Tasks on projects include authoring functional, technical and security requirements for review and contributing to the overall success of the project. The successful candidate must understand the scope and effect of all changes that a project may encompass by soliciting input from all constituents, and involving all appropriate teams, and understand the firm’s solution intake, solution delivery and operations models; how core business services support the attorneys and clients; and how analytics and measurement enable exceptional client service and high performing teams.

In this capacity, the Digital & Innovation Solution Analyst will:

  • Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Experimentation and evangelizing of new and innovative technologies, solutions and best practices
  • Foster innovation and creativity within the Digital & Innovation Team, and among cross-functional project team members.
  • Screen various innovation sources, conduct workshops for brainstorming, use innovation tools and deriving ideas from these activities.
  • Synthesize client needs into clear requirements – e.g. business goals, pain points and value drivers.
  • Work closely with designers and engineers (internal/external) to develop products and cutting-edge solutions.
  • Following SDLC, take ownership of the development process from the identification of the problem or opportunity to be captured, articulating the “as is” state and defining the hoped for future state.
  • Work closely with others to identify, document, and create new feature sets and solutions.
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community, client and engineering teams.
  • Conduct and document fit/gap analysis and business/system requirements as determined by the business.
  • Create use cases, touchpoint agreements, user requirements and requirements specifications as well as support the creation of the requirements traceability matrix, risk assessment, verification and validation protocols and reports.
  • Utilize analytical skills to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract-up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.
  • Verify operational readiness and accuracy of features developed by the software team.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Assist in establishing group goals in support of departmental goals, strategic business plans and Firm objectives, managing those goals from inception to completion by defined due dates.
  • Facilitate meetings with business stakeholders, technical teams and vendors to clearly define scope, requirements and business needs.
  • Work with Project Management to enforce scope control with stakeholders, task execution with the development team and relevant upward communication to management. 
  • Work closely with members of OGC, Compliance and InfoSec to provide continuous improvement strategies, measurements and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Create, or manage creation of necessary assets required for development of each project, including but not limited to: requirements, functional specifications, hardware and software specifications, project tool workflow entries and any additional technical documentation required.
  • Assist in leading or participating in practical process improvement with an eye towards optimizing business and system process flows.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+years’ of overall professional work experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Program/Product Manager.
  • 7+ years’ of analysis experience targeting web online and / or PaaS / SaaS products.
  •  In depth knowledge in systems design using UML skills to represent requirements information in graphical forms (wireframes) that augment textual representations in natural language, including using modeling languages already established in the development organization.
  • Ability to work hard and thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interface with software developers (internal and external) on large enterprise projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group consisting of attorneys, executives, managers and subject matter experts.
  • A natural affinity and track record for working with complex software systems.
  • Ability to listen to business requirements and easily that can easily translate into development actions.
  • Experience working with structured development methodologies with an emphasis on an iterative approach. Exposure to Agile and SCRUM methodologies a plus.
  • Strong technical acumen, with a solid understanding of web technologies, application development, quality assurance, mobile platforms and UEX.
  • Experience with IT and operational projects related to infrastructure, including cloud, hardware, networking and/or colocation management.
  • Successful track record in working with business and technology teams to define, develop, test and launch new solutions.
  • Possess leadership, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in authoring technical requirements.
  • Listening skills, to understand what people say and to detect what they might be hesitant to say.
  • Track record of strong organizational skills along with a high degree of detail orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability in affecting change.
