  • Experience with Forecasting, Budgeting, and Month/Year End Close, and mentoring others through the process

 

Success in this job requires the following knowledge/skills:

What to expect in this job:

The Payroll Manager will manage and administer all day-to-day payroll and timekeeping processing for the company. This position will be responsible to pay employees timely and accurately by managing and executing the entire payroll cycle. This role will communicate and provide guidance on policy and process decisions that integrate with Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting, Finance, Tax, and Field Operations. This person will have multi-state payroll knowledge, being well versed in the pay rules in California.

 

What you'll do to be Successful in this job:

  • Manages the day to day payroll operations and processing, including identifying and implementing strategic initiatives, projects and process improvements
  • Maintains payroll information by performing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
  • Process payroll according to company procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payroll delivery.
  • Process all monthly, quarterly, and annual bonuses and commissions
  • Reviews and ensures accuracy of gross pay to net pay, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, and taxes for Management exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve the current processes by researching and gathering information, and presenting it to management
  • Provides support for all transactions related to special payments and salary changes
  • Conducts ongoing audits in Kronos to ensure the system setup is aligned with federal, state, and local legal requirements
  • Manages the transaction processing of all employee tax related withholdings and garnishments in accordance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
  • Process benefits deductions, contributions, and funding for our health and welfare plans and 401k
  • Provide customer service to employees regarding payroll-related information
  • Creates and maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 

What you'll need to get this job:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, or a related field. This can be substituted with a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
  • A minimum of 5 years previous payroll experience
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in HR and /or Benefits preferred
  • Ultimate Software knowledge is preferred
  • Strong system/spreadsheet proficiency (Microsoft Excel required)
  • Kronos Workforce Ready knowledge a plus
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and high level of honesty and integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to handle adverse situations and/or tight time deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency
  • Willing to work additional time when necessary in order to meet payroll deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
