Job Opening: Junior HVAC/Sheet Metal Estimator

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join a growing construction team in Matthews, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a long-term career in industrial construction estimating while learning from experienced industry professionals.

The Junior Estimator will assist with preparing estimates, analyzing project documents, obtaining pricing, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, and supporting the bidding process for large-scale industrial construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate RFQs, RFPs, bid documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Assist in preparing accurate and timely project estimates.
• Review construction documents and identify scope requirements.
• Develop RFIs to clarify missing or unclear information in contract documents.
• Perform material and labor quantity takeoffs using QuickPen or similar estimating software.
• Obtain pricing from suppliers and vendors.
• Solicit and review subcontractor quotations and verify scope coverage.
• Assist with cost analysis for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Support the development of bid clarifications and exclusions.
• Maintain estimating databases and update material and labor costs as needed.
• Build relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Participate in project turnover activities and departmental meetings.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining project plans and bid documents.

Qualifications

One of the following is required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field plus at least 1 year of Industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimating experience, OR
• Minimum 3 years of industrial HVAC/Sheet metal estimating experience.

Preferred Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Experience performing material and labor takeoffs.
• Familiarity with estimating principles, cost control, and budgeting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn.
